Welcome to ShapeMirror. By tapping Accept, creating an account, or otherwise using the app, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What ShapeMirror is — and what it is not

ShapeMirror is a motivational visualization app intended solely for motivational, educational, informational, and entertainment purposes. We use AI to generate a picture of what you might look like with different body shapes, and we provide light, motivational copy and habit reminders to help you stay engaged with your own goals.

ShapeMirror does not provide medical, healthcare, fitness, nutritional, therapeutic, or professional advice. Any visualizations, projections, recommendations, exercise suggestions, meal suggestions, coaching content, scores, or motivational content generated by the app are estimates and should not be relied upon as professional guidance.

ShapeMirror is NOT:

• a medical, clinical, diagnostic, therapeutic, or treatment service;
• a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian, physiotherapist, mental-health professional, or any other licensed practitioner;
• a fitness-coaching, personal-training, or nutrition-planning service;
• a body-positivity counselling or eating-disorder treatment service;
• an allergen-safety, drug-interaction, or food-safety system.

You should always consult a qualified professional before starting any exercise plan, changing your diet, or making any decision that affects your health.

ShapeMirror, its developers, and the company behind it accept no responsibility whatsoever for any health, dietary, exercise, weight, psychological, emotional, or other outcome resulting from your use of the app.

Your acknowledgements when using ShapeMirror

Users are solely responsible for their own decisions, actions, physical activities, dietary choices, and use of any information provided by the app. By using ShapeMirror, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You use the app entirely at your own risk.
• ShapeMirror, its owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any injury, illness, loss, damage, discomfort, dissatisfaction, or other consequences resulting directly or indirectly from your use of the app.
• If you believe that any recommendation, suggestion, exercise, activity, challenge, or motivational content may be unsuitable for you, you should discontinue use of the app immediately and consult a qualified professional.
• ShapeMirror makes no guarantees regarding results, appearance changes, weight changes, fitness outcomes, or personal achievements.
• The app is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

These acknowledgements are in addition to (and not in substitution for) the more detailed disclaimers and limitations of liability set out below.

Who can use ShapeMirror

You must be at least 18 years old to create a profile and use the app. The onboarding flow asks for your age and will refuse to continue if you are under 18.

If we discover that an account belongs to a person under 18, we will delete the account and all associated data.

By using the app you confirm that:

• you are 18 or over;
• you are using the app on your own behalf and not for anyone else;
• the information you provide (age, weight, height, etc.) is true to the best of your knowledge;
• your use of the app is lawful in your jurisdiction.

Your account

You create an account with an email address (and optionally via Google or Apple sign-in). You are responsible for:

• keeping your account credentials confidential;
• everything that happens under your account;
• letting us know promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

You may delete your account at any time from the in-app settings. Deletion is generally irreversible.

We may suspend, restrict, or close your account at our sole discretion if you violate these Terms, abuse our AI moderation, upload disallowed content, or behave in ways we reasonably consider harmful to other users or to the service.

AI image processing and generated content

When you upload a photo of yourself, ShapeMirror sends it to third-party AI providers (OpenAI, and Google's Gemini as a fallback when OpenAI is unavailable) for:

1. Moderation — to check that the photo is suitable for processing (no nudity, no minors, no explicit content);
2. Generation — to produce a motivational visualization of a possible future you.

You grant ShapeMirror a limited, revocable, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and transmit your uploaded photos for these purposes and for the operation of the app (including admin abuse review and the safety-strike audit trail).

You acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated images are imagined visualizations only. They do NOT predict, promise, guarantee, or otherwise represent any real future body state. Actual physical outcomes depend on countless factors (diet, exercise, genetics, health, sleep, environment, age, hormones, time of day, your camera, your lighting, your underwear, the AI model's training data, etc.).
• AI models occasionally produce errors, distortions, biased output, or images you may find unpleasant. We provide no warranty about the quality, accuracy, or appropriateness of any generated image.
• We may discard, regenerate, or refuse to display any AI-generated image at our discretion.
• Once your visualization is generated, we delete the original photo you uploaded from our servers and keep only a privacy-protected copy (with your face obscured) and the generated image. We may retain copies of rejected uploads and safety records for abuse-prevention and audit purposes.

If you do not want your photos processed by AI, please do not upload them.

AI tokens and credits

Many AI-powered features (such as recipe generation, meal and food analysis, coaching, and similar) consume tokens (also shown as credits) from your balance.

The number of tokens each action costs may be changed by ShapeMirror at any time, at our sole discretion, without prior notice — for example, as our AI-provider costs change or as we add, remove, or refine features. Any change applies to actions you take after the change; it does not retroactively re-charge past actions.

You can review your current token balance and a full history of exactly what each action cost at any time by tapping the token icon in the app. Tokens have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.

Subscriptions and Billing

ShapeMirror Premium is a monthly auto-renewable subscription: USD 12.00 per month after a 7-day free trial. Prices are shown in USD; your local price may vary slightly by region and is always displayed by the App Store before you confirm.

What Premium includes. Premium comes with an allowance of 20,000 tokens every month. Your allowance refreshes in full at the start of each monthly period — you begin every month with the complete 20,000, no matter what was left over. Unused allowance tokens do not stack from month to month.

Token top-up. The 20,000-token top-up (USD 10.00) is a separate, one-time purchase. It is not a subscription: nothing renews, and nothing expires. Top-up tokens stay on your account until you spend them, across months and across renewals. The app always spends your monthly allowance first and your top-up tokens last, so purchased tokens are never consumed while allowance tokens are available.

Payment and renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. If you start a free trial, the first charge happens when the trial ends, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before that. The subscription renews automatically each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; the renewal is charged to your Apple ID within the final 24 hours of the period.

Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time on your device under Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds and account deletion. Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's own policies (you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com). If you delete your ShapeMirror account, any remaining tokens — monthly allowance and purchased alike — are permanently forfeited, and are non-refundable except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Apple App Store. These Terms are an agreement between you and ShapeMirror, not with Apple. Your download and use of the iOS app are additionally governed by Apple's Standard End User License Agreement, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/, and by the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, may enforce them against you.

Content rules

You must not upload, generate, transmit, or otherwise make available through the app any content that:

• contains nudity, sexually explicit material, or material depicting a person in underwear / a lifted shirt / otherwise undressed;
• contains a minor (anyone under 18) in any form;
• depicts violence, gore, self-harm, eating-disorder promotion, hate, harassment, or anything else that violates our providers' usage policies;
• is not a photo of yourself, or is a photo of someone else without their informed consent;
• impersonates anyone or is intentionally misleading.

We use multiple layers of automated moderation. Repeated upload of disallowed content results in escalating restrictions (warnings, cooldowns, 24-hour blocks, 7-day blocks with admin review, and permanent blocks for severe categories). These restrictions are logged with the offending image for our admin review. By using ShapeMirror you consent to this.

If you encounter content shared by another user that you believe is objectionable, you can report it in the app (or email support@shapemirror.com) and we will review it. You may also hide a creator's shared content from your view.

Health, allergens, and risk

ShapeMirror may ask about food allergies, food preferences, health limitations, and other lifestyle data so that we can soften the motivational copy and the suggestion engine. This is not a clinical, dietetic, or allergen-safety record.

YOU ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN HEALTH AND ALLERGEN SAFETY. If you have severe allergies, a chronic condition, a heart condition, are pregnant, postpartum, recovering from injury, or otherwise on any kind of medical care plan, please do not rely on ShapeMirror for any decision. Speak to your doctor.

We may show risk-tier warnings in the app based on your age, weight, BMI, or self-reported health limitations. These warnings are conservative defaults, not professional advice.

Exercise and dietary change carry inherent risks of injury, illness, or worse. You voluntarily assume all of those risks when you use this app. Any exercises the app suggests are general, low-intensity movement ideas; stop immediately and consult a professional if you feel pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or any discomfort.

Information sources & methodology

Where ShapeMirror shows nutrition or activity information — such as estimated calorie targets, macronutrient (protein / carbohydrate / fat) ranges, or general activity suggestions — that information is general, informational, and educational only, and is derived from widely recognized public sources, including:

• the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, a standard formula used to estimate resting energy needs.

Calorie and macronutrient figures shown from a food photo are AI-generated estimates and will not be exact. They are intended to give you a rough, motivational sense of a meal, not a precise clinical or laboratory measurement. Always confirm any nutrition or exercise decision with a qualified professional. Inside the app, you can find these sources any time under "Nutrition sources & how we calculate."

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use the app for any illegal purpose;
• reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or copy substantial parts of the app's content or APIs;
• attempt to disrupt the service, bypass rate limits, defeat moderation, or attack our infrastructure;
• create multiple accounts to evade safety restrictions or to spam our AI moderation;
• impersonate ShapeMirror, our staff, or any other user;
• use the app in any way that interferes with other users.

We reserve the right (but do not have the obligation) to monitor, review, restrict, remove, or refuse any user-uploaded content and to suspend or close any account that we reasonably believe is violating these Terms.

Warranty disclaimer — "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE"

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we expressly disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, reliability, security, or that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

We make no representations or guarantees about the results you will achieve by using ShapeMirror — including any body, weight, fitness, appearance, health, or wellbeing outcome — and any forecasts, projections, scores, or visualizations shown in the app are illustrative estimates only.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ShapeMirror and its operators, owners, employees, contractors, and affiliates shall not be liable to you or to any third party for:

• any health, medical, dietary, weight, fitness, exercise, mental-health, body-image, or psychological outcome resulting from use of the app;
• any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill;
• any error, inaccuracy, omission, distortion, or bias in any AI-generated image, AI-generated text, or other content;
• any unauthorized access to your account or your data, except to the extent caused by our own gross negligence or wilful misconduct;
• any interruption, delay, malfunction, or unavailability of the service.

Your sole remedy if you are dissatisfied with the app is to stop using it and delete your account.

To the extent any liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the app is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) twenty US dollars (USD 20).

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we bump the version number and the in-app consent gate will ask you to accept the new version before you can continue using gated features. Your continued use of the app after you accept a new version means you agree to it.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for any reason consistent with these Terms.

On termination, your right to use the app ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including the disclaimers, warranty disclaimer, limitations of liability, and the no-medical-advice notice) will survive.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operating company is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction.

If you live in a country where local law gives you mandatory consumer rights that conflict with these Terms, those mandatory rights override the conflicting clauses here — but only to the extent strictly required by law.

By continuing to use ShapeMirror, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms. We record the date and time of your acceptance, the IP address and device that the request came from, the email address on your account, and the client app and version you used to accept. This record is kept as proof of consent.
